Elf On The Shelf 2011

2011 was the year we got our elf and it was certainly exciting and interesting! After much debate we settled on the name Camm (all of our initials) and quickly got online to register our new little friend. That night he didn’t waste any time getting to work on watching the family and making us smile every morning.

He took the teacher’s (that’s me!) dry erase marker and scribbled all over those beautiful girls!

We learned quickly that he thinks very highly of himself. (Google elf on the shelf image, print on regular printer paper, replace family photos)

He got a little stuck while trying to eat some cereal. He did set the table though, but with forks! (Girls noticed the forks too)

He and Mickey were enjoying some light reading and donuts. (Cheerios-so easy!)

On the morning of my birthday we found him and some friends playing scrabble and spelling some birthday words.

He left a special treat on this morning. The rolled up green paper read:

A magic pot
With magic seeds
These cotton balls
Will grow no weeds.

You take the pot
Cotton is first
The seeds are next
The wait’s the worst.

It takes two nights
You will be glad
When you awake
If you’re not bad.

So don’t forget
Why I am here
Your happy elf
Just spreading cheer.

Two nights later, the pots sprouted treats!

That little stinker!

He replaced our stockings with our undies!

He ate all of the girls cookies :-(

He found Daddy’s work hat and replaced our tree topper.

What would the holidays be without green milk!?

Just a cute little gift.

The girls found him first and couldn’t figure out why mommy was giggling.

Then they noticed what he’d done in the night!!

This was the first night of the girls being at Nonny’s house, so he just slept in Madison’s bed.

The second night he was wanting to express his sorrow a bit more.

Overindulging a bit.

Playing with their xbox and enjoying Daddy’s Mt. Dew

He took their cereals and put them up on a REALLY high shelf.

Home Alone was in the DVD player and he was enjoying some kisses.

Wrapped those bedroom doors nice and tight!

They loved it!!

Once again, they noticed him first…

…then they saw everyone’s toe nails!! (Grandparents were visiting for Christmas and were great sports along with Daddy)

This was honestly so much stinkin’ fun!! I hope our elf comes up with some great ideas again this year!

Wow, great ideas! This is our first year, and I can’t wait, I think it will be so much fun. I have a question – what did you do with your elf during the day? Did you just leave him where he was?

Yes, we left him where he was. You’re not supposed to touch him or he loses his magic so it does take a bit of planning. For instance the morning we had green milk was actually a day later, we had an extra milk jug in the garage fridge. The day he was on my daughter’s bed was a day she was sleeping over at Grandma’s. It helped me out a ton by making a list ahead of time. Good luck and have fun!!

My nine year old granddaughter lives next door to me so I have an elf on the shelf also. To see her little face pop in my door every afternoon after school to see what ruby did the night before is like seeing her mother at that age again. Since I am a sixty four year old little girl I’m not sure who gets the most fun out of it. Can’t wait till next year already.
